Hi there! I am Aaron, a writer and policy researcher.

I am currently a policy analyst with the Illinois State legislature, based between Chicago and Springfield, IL.

Born in a household of infrastructure and real estate business amid China’s economic reform and the boom years that followed, I’m passionate about interrogating the question of development. My research primarily centers on urban development, energy transition, and labor market. I also regularly write for the general public through Next City, South Side Weekly, Chicago Reader, Block Club Chicago, Eater, The Baffler, In These Times, WBEZ, Sixth Tone, and more.

I graduated from Northwestern University with degrees in history and political science. I speak Mandarin Chinese, English, and some Spanish.
