Hi, I’m Aaron — a writer and policy researcher focused on urban politics and the energy transition. I currently work as a legislative associate at the Illinois Environmental Council, based between Chicago and Springfield.
Previously, I worked as a policy analyst in the Illinois General Assembly and as a policy fellow with the Cook County Bureau of Economic Development. My writing has appeared in Next City, South Side Weekly, Chicago Reader, Block Club Chicago, Eater, The Baffler, In These Times, WBEZ, Sixth Tone, and other outlets.
Born into a family of infrastructure and real estate entrepreneurs during China’s reform era, I’m particularly interested in the political economy of development and the tensions that shape urban life. I hold degrees in history and political science from Northwestern University and speak Mandarin, English, and some Spanish.
